Stockade Lake Campground - Custer State Park

Our family has a 9 yr old and 11 yr. old looking at getting a camping cabin at Stockade for a week this summer. Anyone stay here lately? Is it close to all the attractions like Mt Rushmore, biking, fishing, Wind Cave, etc. Please let me know what you have thought of these camping cabins and what other places to visit. We like to bike, fish, hike, attractions, etc.

Thanks for your input

I have read the Mickelson Trail is good for biking. We are not bikers when we vacation, so I can%26#39;t comment there.

As far as attractions, I will give you my usual list of must sees:

Mt Rushmore

Custer State Park

Crazy Horse

Badlands National Park

Wind Cave

Jewel Cave

Devil%26#39;s Tower

With your children%26#39;s ages, they might also enjoy the Reptile Gardens and Bear Country.

They are also many privately owned caves, mini golf courses, an alpine slide, water parks, souvenir shops..lots of things for kids!

I always recommend ordering a SD travel guide (travelsd.com) if you haven%26#39;t alraedy done so.

Have a great trip.

Do you know anything about Stockade Lake Campground? I just booked a camping cabin there. There are only two reviews about it on TripAdvisor. Everyone seems to be talking about all the other lakes! Thanks for you input.

Sorry, but I am not a camper and am not familiar with this park. I did find some reviews on the internet on it. Hopefully you will find them helpful.
