Resturant near Corn Palace

Looking for a good place to stop and have lunch while near the Corn Palace. Not too expensive, something that might have vegetarian options. Preferably within walking distance...Any ideas? Thanks!

Resturant near Corn Palace

Not much Vegetarian in Mitchell. Lots of places advertise steak....nobody seems to be advertising vegetarian. One option might be The Depot ( http://www.mitchelldepot.com/ ) where they have a vegetarian wrap on the menu. Seven blocks from the Corn Palace. Disclaimer....this was not there back when I leve din Mitchell so have never eaten there. Maybe there is a TA review.

Resturant near Corn Palace

Restaurants within 4 blocks of the Corn Palace are Taco Johns, Pizzeria, Scoreboard (pub), Jackpot(pub), Old Ice Cream Shoppe (seasonal), Jitters (coffee shop that serves lunch), Depot (family sit-down restaurant), Cafe Theresa%26#39;s (sandwiches and daily specials), Cornerstone (deli sandwiches)

I%26#39;m not a big fan of Ruby Tuesday and it isn%26#39;t near the Corn Palace, but there is one near I-90 Exit 332 (east Mitchell exit). They have a big salad bar so it would be a (not very fancy) vegetarian option.

There%26#39;s certainly something better but it%26#39;s an option.

Thanks to all. We%26#39;ll at least find something to feed the kids!

Is Happy Chef still there?

We ate at Cafe Theresa%26#39;s and had great soup and sandwich for lunch. I would recommend it!

The place that was the Happy Chef in Mitchell is still there but it is no longer a Happy Chef. Can%26#39;t recall the name but we ate there the last time we passed through. It was OK...about on par with what HC would have been, both menu and quality wise. Happy Chef as a chain has downsized significantly selling off locations to independent operators. I worked for a couple years at the one in Marshall, MN and it too is no longer listed on thei web site.

Too bad. Happy Chef was something we were delighted to find on our first trip out West as we had never heard of it before, although the Happy Chef himself did bear an uncanny resemblance to Big Boy. We liked the puzzle games they had on the tables and the statue in the parking lot talked. I don%26#39;t really remember the food, just the kitsch.

So sad about happy Chef. I%26#39;m thinking we will keep the Depot in mind, sounds like a great atmosphere, and will also walk around to see if we see anything else that catches are eye. Thanks everyone!
