just returned from deadwood

First off i would like to thank accommodator, thank you for all the good information. For the most part we really liked the old west town, we ate at the gem steakhouse, i actually cut my steak with my fork it was that tender and fresh very good food there, also the social club had very good food. I had heard that the slot machines were very tight and thay were right almost everywhere we went and we went everywhere very little payback, the whole time we were there we never saw anyone hit anything. I know they put slots in to make money but it was a little rediculus, played blackjack in many places most of the dealers didn%26#39;t even seem very interested in talking at all, but there is one dealer in deadwood at the lucky nugett named karen who was absolutly a blast we played there for 3 nights with her, she even gave us a ride back too the hotel twice because we missed the trolley well past midnight, the other dealers in town need to be a little more personable. It was pretty much a ghost town when we were there it was good and bad, we could play whatever we wanted when we wanted but i was surprised we went in some places and were the only ones in there and i could not beleive how hard it was to get service was in one place for over 30min and finally got a drink gave the server a good tip and we didn%26#39;t see her again for about 45min and that seemed to be the trend almost everywhere we went except for the celebrity and the lucky nugget, th nugget was the best overall servers came by all the time most of the time i had not even finished my drink yet. I know i sound like i mostly have complaints but we did have a very good time overall, we went too old time photos and had some pictures taken that was pretty cool and there are some neat shops that we went too also. americinn at cadillac jacks had very nice rooms at very good rates large and clean rooms the restuarant was under construction so we cold not get anything to eat there but there was plenty of other places to get good food in deadwood. i%26#39;m sure we will be back someday jus wanted to share our experience maybe this will help others in the future.

just returned from deadwood

I agree about the service in Deadwood. It%26#39;s not that great at a lot of places. Missing the last trolley can make for a disaster--that%26#39;s why I usually recommend staying somewhere downtown between Four Aces on the north end and the Deadwood Dicks area on the south end. It%26#39;s never too far to walk back to your room. Cadillac Jacks is walkable, too, but it%26#39;s a ways in the middle of winter.

For those who are wondering, the Lucky Nugget used to be the Wild West Winners Club. I%26#39;ve always liked the place inside but the Wild West left something to be desired for service and games. It sounds like the Lucky Nugget has improved that.
